Patella and patellar tendon support

The JK-1 is a knee support designed to absorb shocks and vibrations of the patella and stabilise it. It is ideal for patellar tendonitis as well as patella and meniscus-related injuries, and is also suitable for athletes and sportsmen suffering from patellar tendon bursitis or Osgood-Schlatter syndrome.

Product pluses:

- Anatomically designed P-Tech cushion that applies pressure in the area below the kneecap, reducing stress on the patellar tendon;

- Breathable materials with V-Tech technology, designed to provide extra comfort at the back of the knee;

- Adjustable I-Fit closure for a customised fit and improved comfort;

- Non-slip Grip-Tech closure that keeps the product in place during sporting activity;

- Fully openable support, to be worn without removing the shoe;

TYPE OF INJURY: Patellar tendonitis as an inflammation of the tendon and usually caused by repeated stress over time leading to a progressive alteration of these structures. The patellar tendon connects the lower part of the patella (distal) to the proximal portion of the tibia and is the continuation of the quadriceps tendon, with the function of transmitting muscle force to the tibia and extending the knee. This structure is frequently affected by inflammatory processes and those most at risk are sportsmen and women who play throwing sports such as volleyball, basketball, football, tennis, where there is continuous and often sudden stimulation of the tendon. Similarly, this pathology often also affects individuals who spend many hours in the car or such as lorry drivers.

SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS: The symptoms of patellar tendonitis are those of inflammation, the pain is localised at the level of the lower part of the kneecap and is amplified in particular following jumping and kneeling; the pain, if left untreated, can become increasingly frequent until it becomes chronic and appears even at rest. Other symptoms are swelling, redness, heat and difficulty in extending the leg. WARNING: Always consult your doctor for an objective examination and to make the correct diagnosis.
