Product pluses:
- Stabilises the wrist-thumb complex and the thumb column;
- Thermo-formable to the anatomy of the thumb;
- Designed to be worn under gloves (ski, goalie, cold weather, etc.);
- I-Fit: Adjustable closure for a customised fit, maximum comfort and variable compression level;
- Exo-Grid: Custom thermo-formable exoskeleton;
TYPE OF INJURY: Tenosynovitis, tendinopathies, De Quervain's syndrome, inflammation related to the thumb column, recovery from injuries related to the thumb column complex. De Quervain's syndrome commonly occurs in parents of infants due to repetitive lifting with the wrists in radial deviation.
SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS: Pain and associated tenosynovitis (inflammation affecting the synovial sheath) of the short extensor tendon and long abductor tendon of the thumb. The main symptom of De Quervain's syndrome is a dull pain in the wrist and thumb, aggravated by movement. Some tenderness may be felt just proximal to the styloid process of the radius at the site of the involved tendon sheaths. The diagnosis of De Quervain's syndrome is strongly suggested by the Finkelstein test.
TREATMENT OF THE INJURIES: ATTENTION: objective examination by the doctor is always recommended, usually local corticosteroid injections and the use of a thumb brace are decisive in 70÷80% of cases.
